what is a Pet Blessing Box?
Modeled after the incredibly successful Little Free Library (www.littlefreelibrary.org), recognizing that their neighbors are struggling to afford food for their pets, individuals and organizations across the U.S. have begun offering little free pet pantries, also known as “Pet Blessing Boxes.”

By providing a simple, local solution, little free pet pantries help to keep pets in loving homes, reduce shelter burden, and bring compassion closer to where people live. The Little Free Library concept of “Take what you need. Give what you can,” transfers from books to pet food and supplies in the case of little free pet pantries.

Little free pet pantries are a compliment to existing, large-scale pet pantries and aid in increasing access between scheduled pet pantry events. Also, unlike traditional larger-scale, event-based pet pantries, pet blessing boxes allow pet parents to anonymously take what they need, no registration, no ID, no questions asked.

The look of little free pet pantries is as creative and customized as their designers! Their contents are typically non-perishable pet food and supplies, and often there is signage that guides neighbors to free and reduced-cost pet resources either somewhere on or inside the pet blessing box.
